General Information

Anne Cunningham is a determined woman. She’s been headstrong her whole life and she thought she had a clear sense of right and wrong. Justice was always at the front of her mind, which would often lead into fights verbal or physical. After her father died, becoming a corrections officer was an easy decision. But becoming an officer was not all it was chalked up to be. She particularly latched onto Murphy when he entered the prison system, for reasons she doesn't seem to like to divulge. Her anger towards her father’s death was very pointed at Murphy, which caused things to be quite tense whenever she was in the room with him. Murphy was noticeably meek when he first entered the prison system, and Anne beat that out of him.

Outside of work, Anne doesn’t have a whole lot of hobbies. Her job tends to be exhausting which leads her to go home and sleep for hours on end. Her wife says that this job has completely sucked the soul out of her. Anne won’t say it, but she feels like that’s the truth. She can’t place why, but after she became an officer she just feels as if her soul dissolved into some ether that she can’t reach. A husk is what she feels she became.

When the prison riot broke out, it disturbed her deeply. She was targeted specifically by Murphy due to all the abuses she’d sling his way. Her and her close colleague George Sewell didn’t feel as if they abused their power– but that night it was made clear that their feelings didn’t quite match up to the prisoner’s perceptions. Anne and George, armed but taken off guard, beat Murphy in that fight. After the riot was gotten under control and stamped out, it was made clear that the perpetrators and particularly violent inmates would be sent to a higher security prison, and Anne was tasked with keeping them all in line during the bus ride to the facility.

During the bus ride, a verbal fight broke out between a couple of the inmates. The roads were particularly slick that night due to all the sleet that was falling. Even though the bus driver was only distracted for a couple of moments, that was enough for everything to go wrong. The bus slid and rolled down the mountain just outside the outskirts of a small town. Anne does not remember how far the bus fell or how many times it rolled, but what she does remember is waking up lying on her stomach, having been flung to the back of the bus. She knew she had hit her head hard. Upon exiting the bus and observing the crash site, there was no one. Not even the inmates on the bus. It was almost as if they had slipped away while she was out cold. Desperate for help, Anne began the trek up the foggy mountain. Soon she was met with a sign for the town that loomed above. Silent Hill.

The second she set foot beyond its humble welcome sign, she knew she was trapped. She knew she was being hunted.
